My Gazelle Value (Gazv5) Review

Well yesterday (April 12, 2008) I got to open my brand new System76 Computer! The reason why I had a set date to open it, was because it was for the birthday! Anyway below is my review.

Sales:

Sales was wonderful, I must have made them go insane with all of my questions. Even so, they still continued to answer and help me with any question I could had.

Support:

Support was wonderful as well. They helped me with everything (and trust me, that's an insane amount, no problems with the computer itself, it was perfect, but with questions about the way I could use the computer and how). Later on, down the road, I will update the support section with new information.

Packaging:

The computer came well packaged, if I had dropped it from the roof of my two story house, it would have probably been fine. It had been encased in two foam blocks, crushed against the side of the box, with another box of accessories (charger, battery, user instructions and a driver CD) in it.

The Notebook Itself:

The computer itself is a stunning work of art, bright white top, and inner lip around the keyboard and mouse. Contrasted by a black keyboard and mouse, a black inner lid (around the screen) and a black bottom. It works beautifully and I haven't had a hardware problem yet (a few minor Ubuntu glitches that I fixed just using common sense in the preferences menu). The keyboard is a pleasure to type on and the mouse is sensitive and functional. A row of six hardware keys at the top include power button, web browser, email client and a mute button. It also has two other hardware keys, one of which sends power to the usb ports when the computer is off, the other I haven't figured out what it is yet. All topped off with a beautiful brushed steel panel on the lid.

After Thoughts:

I would buy from them again. In fact, if I ever meet anyone who wants a new computer, or something of the like, I would push them toward System76... gently, of course.

Also, I wrote this entire review with my notebook!
